2012 April ~ Baby Quilt Top #8 Finished in Jan.

This baby quilt was made for my dear friend, Joy who just had her first baby, Gracie the end of February!  I had to wait to post pictures since she is also a follower of my blog.  Had the shower today (April 28, 2012) so here are the pics, I loved seeing how excited everyone was by something I made, I told her she better use it and not just let it hang over a chair, I will have my eye on her, congrats again to Joy & Kevin on their beautiful baby girl!

PS...The back of the quilt is a double sided minky that the quilter said she would never quilt on again.  Lucky me, I was the very appreciative guinea pig :-)

The pattern for this quilt can be found in this cute book, called Quilts for Baby:

Here is a close up of the rail fence design.  The pattern can be found in this cute "Quilts for Baby" book.

2012 April ~ Asterisk Block Pillows - Hawaii

I made these pillows for my friend, Megan who is in Hawaii, her hubby is stationed there at the moment.  Her kids were having a fund raiser for their school and my original idea was to use redm white and blue to have a patriotic theme, then as I made the 1st flag, I got upset thinking oh no, it looks like the British flag.  Then fortunatly I decided to look up the Hawaiian flag and realized it has the same similar symbol in the top left.  So I went with it and Megan seems to very pleased :

2012 April ~ It Only Takes One :-)

My husband told me a great uplifting story from his work yesterday and I have to share it.  His co-worker's daughter over the weekend decided she was going to have a lemonade stand which quickly turned into a bottled water stand since that is what was in her parent's garage...giggling.  So back to the great part of the story. The little girl decided she was going to donate all her earnings of $11.65 to a Children's Program that is located within where her Dad and my hubby's work.  The program is for kid's who have people in their family dealing with addiction.  Word got around at his work what this little girl did and it turned into people suggesting matching what she donated and challenging others.  Today I found out her donation started a snowball effect and it has accumulated to over $350.00 for the Children's Program and there is an anonymous donor who is going to match what ever is earned!  To me this is more proof that it takes just one to take action and then others will follow.  It doesn't matter how small you are, you have a voice and it matters and can make a difference.

UPDATE:  She ended up earning over $500 for the Children's Program!!!
