<span style="color: #351c75; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I am sorry, I haven't been on here in quite some time, I did not mean to abandon my website or my followers, thanks for still hanging in there with me. I need to get back to my sewing and quilting but I have been taking tons of photographs at least to keep myself occupied during this mega rut I have been in. I have been taking pictures people like my amazing boys who are growing way too fast. They are both on Honor Roll and making me proud in the things they enjoy doing. Watching them grow into independent and happy and healthy young men is my ultimate goal as a mom.

I made a matching teddy bear to go along with it and I hope Mila, the beautiful baby this was gifted to loves them both for a long time to come. I chose ladybugs as the focal fabric since it was a nickname for her mom, Nikia when she was growing up.
I was asked to share my recipes on my website since I have been posting them daily on Instagram and not everyone has IG. So I will consolidate what I have posted so far right here and then each day after or new experimental flavor concoction worth sharing I will post as a new recipe.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">A few weeks ago I was at an estate sale and we walked in and immediately I spotted this beautiful wooden Singer Bentwood sewing machine case on the floor and I don't know what I was doing but I think I was trying to play it off like I just was not interested. But it couldn't be more than the opposite, especially when the sales rep told us everything was half off today since it was Sunday. So I wandered around looking around this home that seemed to be stuck in a time warp, it seriously had a tv stuck in the wall that must have been from the 60's but everything was like that, the furniture the bedding the kitchen items and very gratefully this sewing machine that I finally wandered back to was still there. They helped me unlock it, YES, it even STILL has it's key and this machine was underneath the beautiful wooden box!

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">After doing some research I figured out if was made in 1929. It had the knee bar in the top of the case, the cord, the key and I am almost forgetting one other thing to tell you the amazing price I bought this for! It cost me only $42.50! It was half of $85.00 that it was marked at originally and I know I probably could have negotiated if I tried but I knew it was a deal and I wanted to run before they changed their mind. The Estate sales representative asked me if I sewed and was happy to hear it would be staying with me since it had only been in their family. She said the family was concerned a dealer would find it and just resell it. Well, I am thrilled with my find, anyone else have deals like this fall into their lap or have a fun story they want to share about their antique / vintage machines?

I decided another rag quilt was in order but with lots of fun colors and it was going to be made with flannels so it would be super soft since for a baby. I washed it with a Color Catcher and dried it twice before gifting it to him to get the fluffiness to start and to collect a bunch of loose strings.

His daddy even made the crib and changing table they use for him everyday. This little guy (ok, not so little) will have such a loving upbringing with the fabulous parents he has! This morning I went out determined to find sweet potatoes in my gigantic hill where they were planted and after several attempts of digging holes like a blind squirrel we finally went to the local hardware shop for a big potato fork thing that looks like a shovel but with the fork on the end (hehe, nice description, I know). Then I managed to easily find some yummy sweet potatoes in the huge potato hill in our yard. My plan was to cook some up for dinner tonight but I keep hearing I should cure them before eating them to bring out the sweetness and to help them last even longer. Anyone else starting to pull up their sweet potatoes? I would love to hear how you cure yours, please leave comments below.

Seems like summer break just started for my boys a few weeks ago but the reality is school starts this Thursday! By the time it slowly sinks in that I now have a 5th and 7th grader, it will be time to be decorate the Christmas tree, ohhhh shhhhhhhh, I said that out loud!

So this was my first rag quilt, now while it was a simple style for me, it was still my first time. One thing I learned while making one that I didn't expect was that the piecing thread should blend into the fabrics I chose. I was expecting the raggy cutting area to hide it more than it does. So that is one thing I would suggest if you ever make one yourself. Let me know if you have ventured into making one of these before. The most time consuming part of it was the cutting every 1/4 inch of the seams.

I hope to be back to posting more very soon. I have several different projects going on at once right now, but that is always the way right? =)
My current project has been a rag quilt made with 100% cotton from my local quilt shops (LQS). Most of you know that I always am wanting to learn new techniques and challenge myself. This may not be the most challenging of my projects, compared to the quilt that has over 1300 triangles in it that I am still working on but it does qualify as a technique I haven't done before. The reason I decided to make one of these is I have a friend that may want 3 rag quilts for her adorable grand-babies and I wanted to make one of my own prior to making hers so I would know ahead of time what are some things I should look out for. She wants them to be really snugly and cozy so we were most likely using flannels. This rag quilt still needs to be hemmed around all four sides and then snipped on the seams so when I wash it, it will be able to bloom and give off the cozy rag quilt look many love. Let me know what you think in the comments section below. =)
Little Hannah, my niece was born in December and her mother rescues horses, so that was my idea behind including a picture piecing method of a horse head in the center of it and then personalized it with her first and unique middle name appliqued on it. I made it really big so she will hopefully still be using it when she goes off to college one day. I did not do the free motion quilting myself on this baby quilt, I think it turned out fantastic, I will find out if she has a website I can share right here on my blog as well. I am in love and very blessed to have it. Okay, I need to stop referring to by saying "It". She had a name that was Japanese and I know it started with an A, but don't tell her, I forgot it. and it also just happened to be my favorite color of purple and chose a cute stitch off of my new Juki

So I just finished making this really fun bag and I can't decide what to use it for. My original plan was for going to the pool, since the bag I have been using a few times a week is a bit snug for my towel and other necessities. The free pattern and tutorial did not call for the pockets that I added. I put a big pocket on the outside of it and one a bit smaller on the inside for my phone and keys. It seems though that the bag has other plans to tote my almost 10 year old around...hahaha! Let me know what you think when you have a quick minute.
Free yourself from negative people. – Spend time with nice people
who are smart, driven and like-minded. Relationships should help you,
not hurt you. Surround yourself with people who reflect the person you
want to be. Choose friends who you are proud to know, people you
admire, who love and respect you – people who make your day a little
brighter simply by being in it. Life is too short to spend time with
people who suck the happiness out of you. When you free yourself from
negative people, you free yourself to be YOU – and being YOU is the only
way to truly live.

I found this awesome quote from Positive Outlooks Blog they have some truly inspirational ones on there site! I am not sure who said these wise words though.

I have been so fortunate to make many friends over the internet that I have so much in common with, normally it is that we are both quilters, crafters and even more likely both parents. Well, this friend, Charlie is not quite a parent yet but at the time he was developing an anti bullying game, and that was a topic I was interested in for my two boys. He is now holding a huge giveaway of video games! I honestly don't let my boys play the games often, but when I do it must be educational. I hear the majority of these games being given for FREE are good for kids. So if you want more info about how to win this prize worth over $600 & growing, keep reading!

Message from Charlie follows: Starting a couple weeks ago, I reached out to a bunch of indies (as many as I could find, really) asking to do a big Christmas game giveaway. I figured I'd get 10-25 games or so and it'd be a pretty huge giveaway... Boy was I wrong - NEVER underestimate the kindness and generosity of indie game developers!! I ended up getting 70 different games worth over $600, and between the extra copies of games I've gotten, I have over 350 games to give away worth over $2,900 total!!!! That's absolutely mind-blowing to me, and I am incredibly humbled by it all. In fact, because I got so many games, I've expanded on the giveaway concept, turning it into over a dozen different giveaways.

The giveaway below is the SUPER HUGE giveaway - the giveaway that has one copy of each game. Each entry is optional, so you can pick and choose which ones you do, but most of them were chosen by the game developers themselves, so entering as many as you can helps support them and helps you keep up to date with all of their awesomeness!

You can click here if you want to see the grand list of games in the giveaway, or just enter below! Good luck, and don't forget to enter all of the other Christmas giveaways as well!

Note: One winner will be chosen at random. The giveaway is open worldwide. The winners will be emailed via their Rafflecopter email address once chosen, and will have three (3) days to reply to it. If you don't reply within the three days, a new winner will be chosen at random.
I just completed this adorable heart baby quilt, here is a link to the pattern over at the U Create blog. I did many things to their pattern to make it my own. I added larger borders, I wanted more of the background fabric before it reached the final border which I also made larger. For some reason, I can't make small baby quilts and the original pattern was a generous size already. I always hope and imagine the baby doesn't grow out of it, they want to drag it around with them until college at least...hehehe (wishful thinking, I know). The back of this baby quilt is a yummy soft lilac colored minky and it really highlights the quilting of the clouds with the added textures. Well, I hope they love it as much as I do! For the friends who have been following along, in the summer I joined a wonderful group of quilting people, I can't say ladies since I do believe we have two brave men in our group who put up with us giggling all of the time. The group is called the IQBS ~ International Quilt Block Swap, you can read more about the group by clicking the link above and also searching keyword IQBS on my website in the top left corner of this page. You will be able to see the previous posts that include some of the beautiful blocks our group has been making for each other!

Well, here are two of my most recent blocks I have made. I had been wanting to try this new technique (to me) called "Picture Piecing" not to be confused with paper piecing. I had seen some beautiful quilts that looked like real pictures and I wanted to learn how to do it. So this purple butterfly block above was made from a pattern inside the book

I bought off of Amazon, called Picture Piecing, that was actually signed on the inside cover by Cynthia England herself, but you have to make sure you purchase it directly from the author herself and I am not sure if maybe I was just the lucky new book owner of the day. The butterfly block flew to Italy to be enjoyed by a quilt friend there near Rome.

The other block I made was for a quilty friend in the UK and she wanted the color red used in her block.
